LICENSES

Licenses for the 2026–2027 season are purchased via Suomisport. Sales begin on 1 July 2026. If you have registered previously (purchased a license or insurance through Suomisport), log in and complete your purchase as before. If you are a new participant requiring a license or insurance, you must first register with Suomisport. Suomisport will guide you through the registration process step by step. For future purchases, it is recommended to download the Suomisport app from your mobile device’s app store to handle purchases easily on mobile.

When a parent purchases licenses for a minor player, the parent must first register themselves (no purchase required for the parent) and then add the junior via the "Add child" function before purchasing the license for the child.

License purchase details are transferred automatically from Suomisport to Tournament Software (TSW) once per hour (at xx:51) for players who have previously held a license and already possess a player number and an account on Tournament Software.

New players are transferred manually to Tournament Software during office hours (weekdays 09:00–17:00), which takes slightly longer. Following their purchase, new license holders will receive a Tournament Software registration link and player number via email, sent to the address provided in Suomisport (always sent to the guardian’s email for minors), at the latest on the day following the purchase. This link allows you to register on Tournament Software and subsequently confirm your registration via a follow-up email, after which your TSW player number becomes active. You cannot register on Tournament Software using a Suomisport ID. Purchase your license well in advance to ensure timely receipt of the TSW registration link.

Steps for First-Time Competitors Purchasing a License

1) Purchase the license via Suomisport and register following Suomisport’s instructions. Payment data is transferred during the hourly update run at xx:51. For new players, Badminton Finland’s (SSuL) tournament support receives a notification, which is processed as soon as possible—at the latest within the next business day.

2) Receive an email (sent to the address registered in Suomisport) containing a link to register on Tournament Software, including your TSW player number.

3) Register on Tournament Software by choosing a username (which cannot be changed later) and a memorable password. You will receive a confirmation email for this step as well.

4) Confirm your registration by responding to the email and logging into Tournament Software. Your account will become active only after logging in, enabling you to enter tournaments.

Note for new players: Purchase your license well in advance to receive your TSW registration link and ensure your eligibility to compete!

General License Terms

Every player belonging to a Finnish Badminton Finland member club who participates in a Badminton Finland-sanctioned tournament must acquire a competition license before registering. Anyone registering for SSuL-sanctioned events and purchasing a license must be a member of an SSuL member club.

By purchasing a license, the buyer commits to complying with all rules of Badminton Finland, the regulations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Europe Confederation (BE), and all current Anti-Doping regulations. Unlicensed players cannot register for tournaments approved by Badminton Finland.

Recreational players do not require a license for recreational competitions, where entry and participation follow the instructions provided by the event organizer.

License Categories

Full-Season Licenses

Adult Season License 2026–2027 (€45.00): For players born in 2007 or earlier. Valid in all competitions for the season 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027.

Junior Season License 2026–2027 (€20.00): For players born in 2008 or later. Valid in all competitions for the season 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027.

Single-Event License

At the lowest competition tier (Class C): Any player (including seniors) may purchase a single-event license valid for one tournament at a time, as many times per season as desired.

In other classes (V, A, and B): The right to a single-event license is granted only to players representing the organizing club, limited to once per season.

Single-event licenses must also be purchased well in advance of registration. Upon purchase, you will be prompted for the start date of validity (the first day of the tournament). A player who purchases a single-event license can later upgrade to a full-season license discounted by the price of the single-event license; however, due to system limitations in Suomisport, this purchase must be made while the single-event license is still active. Suomisport cannot apply the discount after expiration. Purchasing a full-season license directly is more economical if you plan to compete more than once. Valid only for the specific tournament date selected at purchase. Price: €25.00 / event.

Note: Competition licenses do not include sports insurance. You can secure insurance coverage by purchasing it alongside your license. Insurance can also be purchased separately by selecting the product "Purchasing insurance only" during the checkout process.

Class D / Class D Registration

The Board of Badminton Finland decided on 10 June 2025 that the license product named "Class D Registration" would no longer be sold as of 1 July 2025 due to very low demand. All players previously competing in or registered under Class D were transferred to Class C during the classification updates on 1 July 2025, and are eligible for the standard license options listed above.
